“When you dig that is all you do. You put your spade in the sand, dig a hole, create a heap. No phone and no distraction, but the same action, over and over and over again. A simple task and a simple focus; digging a hole, rhythmically going deeper. Over and over again.
Decisions, distractions, expectations and an overload of imagery and social participation. We are overwhelmed by the possibilities of the future and the need to be somewhere, anywhere, else.
There is barely any time and space to be completely alone and think. And when we are alone we escape into movies, tv series or anything internet has to over us. How on earth do I focus?”
